AUGUST 1, MORNING AUGUST 1, EVENING

The fruit of the Spirit is . . . faith

BY grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God--Without faith it is impossible to please him.--He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.-- I do believe; help my unbelief.
Whoever keeps His word, in him the love of God has truly been perfected. By this we know that we are in Him --faith working through love --Faith without works is useless
We walk by faith, not by sight.-- I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and delivered Himself up for me --though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, obtaining as the outcome of your faith the salvation of your souls.

Ga. 5.6.--Jas 2.20. 2Co 5.7.--
Ga. 2.20. 1Pe 1.8, 9.

The Lord is full of compassion and is merciful.

LIKE as a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear Him --The LORD is gracious and compassionate. He has given food to those who fear Him. He will remember His covenant forever.
He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, He who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.-- Like an eagle that stirs up its nest, that hovers over its young, He spread His wings and caught them, He carried them on His pinions. The LORD alone guided him, and there was no foreign god with him.
His compassions never fail. They are new every morning. Great is Thy faithfulness.
He went ashore, He saw a great multitude, and felt compassion for them, and healed their sick --Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today, yes and forever.
The very hairs of your head are all numbered. Are not two sparrows sold for a cent? And yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. Therefore do not fear.

AUGUST 2, MORNING AUGUST 2, EVENING

The Lamb slain from the foundation of the world

YOUR lamb shall be an unblemished male a year old...the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel is to kill it at twilight. Moreover, they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses in which they eat it...and when I see the blood I will pass over you .--The sprinkled blood --Christ our Passover also has been sacrificed -- Delivered up by the predetermined plan and foreknowledge of God -- According to His own purpose and grace which was granted us in Christ Jesus from all eternity
We have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace.
Since Christ has suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same purpose, because he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, so as to live the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for the lusts of men, but for the will of God.

Re 13.8. Ex 12.5, 6, 7, 13.--He 12.24.-- 1Co. 5.7.--Ac 2.23.--2Ti 1.9. Ep 1.7--1Pe 4.1, 2.

I have trodden the wine trough alone

WHO is like unto Thee among the gods, O LORD? Who is like Thee, majestic in holiness, awesome in praises, working wonders?--He saw that there was no man, and was astonished that there was no one to intercede. Then His own arm brought salvation to Him and His righteousness upheld Him-- He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross -- having become a curse for us
O Sing to the LORD a new song, for He has done wonderful things. His right hand and His holy arm have gained the victory for Him.-- When He had disarmed the rulers and authorities, He made a public display of them, having triumphed over them through Him.--As a result of the anguish of His soul, He will see it and be satisfied. By His knowledge the Righteous One, My Servant, will justify the many, as He will bear their iniquities.
O my soul, march on with strength --We overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us.--They overcame... because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony

AUGUST 3, MORNING AUGUST 3, EVENING

His mercy is...toward those who fear him

OH how great is thy goodness, which Thou hast stored up for those who fear Thee, which Thou hast wrought for those who take refuge in Thee, before the sons of men! Thou dost hide them in the secret place of Thy presence from the conspiracies of man. Thou dost keep them secretly in a shelter from the strife of tongues.
If you address as Father the One who impartially judges according to each man's work, conduct yourselves in fear during the time of your stay upon earth --The LORD is near to all who call upon him in truth. He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him. He will also hear their cry and will save them.
Because your heart was tender and you humbled yourself before the LORD...you have torn your clothes and wept before Me, I truly have heard you, declares the LORD .--To this one I will look, to him who is humble and contrite of spirit, and who trembles at My word.--The LORD is near to the brokenhearted, And saves those who are crushed in spirit.

Lk 1.50. Ps.31.19,20. 1Pe1.17-- Ps 145.18, 19. 2Ki22.19--Is66.2-- Ps34.18.

Those who honor me I will honor.

Everyone who shall confess Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father who is in heaven.-- He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. He who has found his life shall lose it, and he who has lost his life for My sake shall find it.
Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life, which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.
Do not fear what you are about to suffer... Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.
For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison --Praise praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ

1Sa 2.30. Mt 10.32.--Mt 10.37, 38, 39 --Jas 1.12. Re. 2.10. 2Co 4.17.--1Pe 1.7.

AUGUST 4, MORNING AUGUST 4, EVENING

It is finished! And He bowed His head, and gave up His spirit.

JESUS the author and perfecter of faith.--I glorified Thee on the earth, having accomplished the work which Thou hast given Me to do.--We have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. And every priest stands daily ministering and offering time after time the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins; but He, having offered one sacrifice for sins for all time, SAT DOWN AT THE RIGHT HAND OF GOD, waiting from that time onward UNTIL HIS ENEMIES BE MADE A FOOTSTOOL FOR HIS FEET. For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified.-- Having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us and which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.
I lay down My life that I may take it again. No one has taken it away from Me, but I lay it down on My own initiative. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again.--Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

Jn 19.30. Heb. 12.2.--Jn 17.4.--
Heb. 10.10-14.--Col. 2.14. John 10.17, 18.-- John 15.13.

He sent from on high, He took me; He drew me out of many waters.

HE brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay; and He set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firm.--You were dead in your trespasses and sins, in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience. Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest.
Hear my cry, O God; Give heed to my prayer. From the end of the earth I call to Thee, when my heart is faint.--I cried for help from the depth of Sheol; Thou didst hear my voice. For Thou hadst cast me into the deep, Into the heart of the seas, And the current engulfed me. All Thy breakers and billows passed over me.--We went through fire and through water, yet Thou didst bring us out into a place of abundance.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they will not overflow you.

AUGUST 5, MORNING AUGUST 5, EVENING

Walk in newness of life

AS you presented your members as slaves to impurity and to lawlessness, resulting in further lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness, resulting in sanctification.--I urge you brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.
If any man is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come -- For neither is circumcision anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation. And those who will walk by this rule, peace and mercy be upon them.--This I say therefore, and affirm together with the Lord, that you walk no longer just as the Gentiles also walk, in the futility of their mind. You did not learn Christ in this way; if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught in Him, just as truth is in Jesus. Put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.

Thy will be done

I know, O LORD, that a man's way is not in himself; nor is it in a man who walks to direct his steps. --Not as I will, but as thou wilt.--Surely I have composed and quieted my soul, like a weaned child rests against his mother, my soul is like a weaned child within me.
We do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.
You do not know what you are asking for.--He gave them their request; but sent a wasting disease among them --These things happened as examples for us, that we should not crave evil things, as they also craved.
I want you to be free from concern.--The steadfast of mind Thou wilt keep in perfect peace, because he trusts in Thee.

AUGUST 6, MORNING AUGUST 6, EVENING

Whom the LORD loves He reproves

SEE now that I, I am He, And there is no god besides Me. It is I who put to death and give life. I have wounded, and it is I who heal and there is no one who can deliver from My hand.-- I know the plans that I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.-- My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, declares the LORD.
I will allure her, bring her into the wilderness, and speak kindly to her.-- The LORD your God was disciplining you just as a man disciplines his son. --All discipline for the moment seems not to be joyful, but sorrowful; yet to those who have been trained by it, afterwards it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness.-- Humble yourselves therefore, under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time
I know, O LORD, that Thy judgments are righteous, And that in faithfulness Thou hast afflicted me.

The earth is the LORD'S, and all it contains

SHE does not know that it was I who gave her the grain, the new wine, and the oil, and lavished on her silver and gold. Therefore, I will take back My grain at harvest time and My new wine in its season. I will also take away My wool and My flax
All things come from Thee, and from Thy hand we have given Thee. For we are sojourners before Thee, and tenants, as all our fathers were; our days on the earth are like a shadow, and there is no hope. O LORD our God, all this abundance that we have provided to build Thee a house for Thy holy name, it is from Thy hand, and all is Thine.--For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen.
God...richly supplies us with all things to enjoy.--Everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected, if it is received with gratitude for it is sanctified by means of the word of God and prayer.
My God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

AUGUST 7, MORNING AUGUST 7, EVENING

The Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name

IF thou knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, Give Me a drink, you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water. -- If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him? -- Truly, truly, I say to you, if you shall ask the Father for anything, He will give it to you in My name.
Until now you have asked for nothing in My name; ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be made full. --You do not have because you do not ask.
When He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. He shall glorify Me; for He shall take of Mine, and shall disclose it to you.
They rebelled, and grieved His Holy Spirit; Therefore, He turned Himself to become their enemy, He fought against them.

What do you think about the Christ?

LIFT up your heads, O gates, and lift them up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in! Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, He is the King of glory.-- On His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
For you who believe...THE STONE WHICH THE BUILDERS REJECTED, THIS BECAME THE VERY CORNER stone -- Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling block, and to Gentiles foolishness, but to those who are the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.
I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for Whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish in order that I may gain Christ .-- Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You

AUGUST 8, MORNING AUGUST 8, EVENING

The path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, That shines brighter and brighter until the full day.

NOT that I have already obtained it, or have already become perfect, but I press on in order that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus.
--So let us know, let us press on to know the LORD.
Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him hear --We all, with unveiled face beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.--When the perfect comes, the partial will be done away. -- For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I shall know fully just as I also have been fully known.--Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we shall be. We know that, when He appears, we shall be like Him, because we shall see Him just as He is. And everyone who has this hope fixed on Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.

Pr 4.18. Php 3.12.--Ho. 6.3.
Mt 13.43.--2Co 3.18.--1Co. 13.10, 12-- 1Jn 3.2, 3.

WHOEVER WILL CALL UPON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED

The one who comes to Me I will certainly not cast out. -- Jesus, remember me when You come in Your kingdom! And He said to him, Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise.-- What do you want Me to do for you? They said to Him, Lord, we want our eyes to be opened. And moved with compassion, Jesus touched their eyes; and immediately they regained their sight and followed Him. |
If you ...being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him? --put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will be careful to observe My ordinances.
This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.

AUGUST 9, MORNING AUGUST 9, EVENING

You are altogether beautiful, my darling, and there is no blemish in you.

THE whole head is sick, and the whole heart is faint.
From the sole of the foot even to the head there is nothing sound in it, only bruises, welts, and raw wounds, Not pressed out or bandaged, nor softened with oil.-- All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment.--I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh
you were washed...you were sanctified... you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.--The king's daughter is all glorious within.--Perfect because of My splendor which I bestowed on you, declares the Lord GOD.
Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us.
These are the ones who.. have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.-- The church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing... holy and blameless.-- In Him you have been made complete

Broken cisterns, that can hold no water.

EVE gave birth to Cain, and she said, I have gotten a manchild with the help of the LORD.
"Come, let us build for ourselves a city and a tower whose top will reach into heaven...the LORD scattered.--Lot chose for himself all the valley of the Jordan; and Lot journeyed eastward... like the garden of the LORD... the men of Sodom were wicked exceedingly and sinners against the LORD.
I set my mind to know wisdom and to know madness and folly; I realized that this also is striving after wind. Because in much wisdom there is much grief, and increasing knowledge results in increasing pain.-- I enlarged my works: I built houses for myself, I planted vineyards for myself. I collected for myself silver and gold. I considered all my activities...and behold all was vanity and striving after wind and there was no profit under the sun.
If any man is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink --He has satisfied the thirsty soul, and the hungry soul He has filled with what is good.

AUGUST 10, MORNING AUGUST 10, EVENING

I do not ask Thee to take them out of the world, but to keep them from the evil one.

BLAMELESS and innocent, children of God above reproach in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you appear as lights in the world.--You are the salt of the earth... the light of the world.-- Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.
I also kept you from sinning against Me.
The Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one -- I did not do so because of the fear of God.--Who who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us out of this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father.--Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy, to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen

The fear of man brings a snare, but he who trusts in the LORD will be exalted.

THE LORD is exalted, for He dwells on high.--The LORD is high above all nations; His glory is above the heavens. He raises the poor from the dust, And lifts the needy from the ash heap, to make them sit with princes.
God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places, in Christ Jesus,
He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things? For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

That through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil

OUR Saviour Savior Christ Jesus... abolished death, and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel --He will swallow up death for all time, and the Lord GOD will wipe tears away from all faces, and He will remove the reproach of His people from all the earth; for the LORD has spoken.-- But when this perishable will have put on the imperishable, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then will come about the saying that is written, "DEATH IS SWALLOWED UP in victory. O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR VICTORY? O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR STING? The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law; but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline --Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil; for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me.

Where is the way to the dwelling of light?

GOD is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all -- While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth but if we walk in the light as He Himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.
The Father... has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. For He delivered us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
You are all sons of light and sons of day. We are not of night nor of darkness--You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. "Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

AUGUST 12, MORNING AUGUST 12, EVENING
For the Lord will not reject forever, for if He causes grief, Then He will have compassion According to His abundant lovingkindness.

Do not fear, declares the LORD, For I am with you...I shall not make a full end of you; but I shall correct you properly -- For a brief moment I forsook you, but with great compassion I will gather you. In an outburst of anger I hid My face from you for a moment; but with everlasting lovingkindness I will have compassion on you, says the LORD your Redeemer. For the mountains may be removed and the hills may shake, but My lovingkindness will not be removed from you, and My covenant of peace will not be shaken, says the LORD Who has compassion on you. O afflicted one, storm-tossed, and not comforted, Behold, I will set your stones in antimony, and your foundations I will lay in sapphires.
I will bear the indignation of the LORD because I have sinned against Him, until He pleads my case and executes justice for me. He will bring me out to the light, and I will see His righteousness.

God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong

WHEN the sons of Israel cried to the LORD, the LORD raised up a deliverer for them, Ehud... a left-handed man. After him came Shamgar...who struck down six hundred Philistines with an ox goad: and he also saved Israel.
The LORD looked upon Gideon, and said, Go in this your strength...Have I not sent you? And he said unto him, O Lord, how shall I deliver Israel? Behold, my family is the least in Manasseh, and I am the youngest in my father's house.
And the LORD said unto Gideon, The people that are with you  are too many for Me...lest Israel become boastful, saying, My own power has delivered me.
Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,' says the LORD of hosts.-- Be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of His might.

AUGUST 13, MORNING AUGUST 13, EVENING

He has prepared a city for them.

IF I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.--An inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you --Here we do not have a lasting city, but we are seeking the city which is to come.

This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven --Be patient, therefore, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. Behold, the farmer waits for the precious produce of the soil, being patient about it, until it gets the early and late rains. You too be patient; strengthen your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.-- Yet in a very little while, He Who is coming will come and will not delay.
We who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.

The base things of the world and the despised, God has chosen

Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and in the Spirit of our God.
You were dead in your trespasses and sins, in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience. Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind.
He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, Whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior
My thoughts are not your thoughts. Neither are your ways My ways declares the LORD.

AUGUST 14, MORNING AUGUST 14, EVENING

The joy of the LORD is your strength

Shout for joy, O heavens! And rejoice, O earth! Break forth into joyful shouting, O mountains! For the LORD has comforted His people, and will have compassion on His afflicted --Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; for the LORD GOD is my strength and song, and He has become my salvation.--The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and I am helped. Therefore my heart exults, and with my song I shall thank Him.--My soul will exult in my God for He has clothed me with garments of salvation. He has wrapped me with a robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself with a garland, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
Therefore in Christ Jesus I have found reason for boasting in things pertaining to God.--We also exult in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation..--I will rejoice in the LORD, I will exult in the LORD, I will rejoice in the God of my salvation.

He has made an everlasting covenant with me, ordered in all things, and secured

I KNOW Whom I have believed and I am convinced that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him until that day.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before Him. In love He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will.
And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the first-born among many brethren and whom He predestined, these He also called; and whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.

Now the God of peace, equip you in every good thing to do His will

BE made complete, be comforted, be like-minded, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.
By grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God not as a result of works, that no one should boast --Every good thing bestowed and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation, or shifting shadow
Work out your salvation with fear and trembling for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.-- Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.
-- Having been filled with the fruit of righteousness which comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

The house that is to be built for the LORD shall be exceedingly magnificent

YE . . . as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house.--Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.--Your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.--What agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.--Ye . . . are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; in whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: in whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth: when he established the clouds above: when he strengthened the fountains of the deep: when he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment. I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him.--Yea, before the day was I am he.

Pray one for another,
so that you may be healed.

ABRAHAM answered and said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord, which am but dust and ashes: peradventure there shall lack five of the fifty righteous: wilt thou destroy all the city for lack of five? And he said, If I find there forty and five, I will not destroy it.

Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.--Pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.

I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine. Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word.--Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.

Surely the people are grass. The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever --The world is passing away, and also its lusts; but the one who does the will of God abides forever.

--There is no one like Thee among the gods, O Lord; nor are there any works like Thine-- For the sake of Thy word, and according to Thine own heart, Thou hast done all this greatness to let Thy servant know. For this reason Thou art great, O Lord GOD; for there is none like Thee, and there is no God besides Thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.
EYE HAS NOT SEEN AND EAR HAS NOT HEARD, AND which HAVE NOT ENTERED THE HEART OF MAN, ALL THAT GOD HAS PREPARED FOR THOSE WHO LOVE HIM. For to us God revealed them through the Spirit.--The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our sons forever

I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish in order that I may gain Christ.--I am not ashamed of the gospel for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes.--In Christ Jesus I have found reason for boasting in things pertaining to God.

And do not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but instead even expose them-- Having been filled with the fruit of righteousness which comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

Christ shall even now, as always, be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death. For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain. But if I am to live on in the flesh, this will mean fruitful labor for me; and I do not know which to choose. But I am hard-pressed from both directions, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, for that is very much better
For through the Law I died to the Law, that I might live to God.I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and delivered Himself up for me.

I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore I have drawn you with lovingkindness.

WE should always give thanks to God for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God has chosen you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth. And it was for this He called you through our gospel, that you may gain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.-- God ...has saved us, and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was granted us in Christ Jesus from all eternity -- Thine eyes have seen my unformed substance; and in Thy book they were all written, the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there was not one of them.
God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.
In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

He looked down from His holy height; from heaven the LORD gazed upon the earth, to hear the groaning of the prisoner; to set free those who were doomed to death--He knows the way I take; When He has tried me, I shall come forth as gold.--When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, Thou didst know my path.

Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes, and look on the fields, that they are white for harvest. Already he who reaps is receiving wages, and is gathering fruit for life eternal; that he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together.--The kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire laborers for his vineyard. Look to the rock from which you were hewn, and to the quarry from which you were dug.

BEHOLD, I was brought forth in iniquity.-- No eye looked with pity on you...rather you were thrown out into the open field, for you were abhorred on the day you were born. When I passed by you and saw you squirming in your blood, I said to you...Live!
He brought me up...out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay; and He set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firm. And He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God
While we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.-- being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved)

AUGUST 26, MORNING AUGUST 26, EVENING

You shall also make a plate of pure gold and shall engrave on it, like the engravings of a seal, Holy to the LORD

HOLINESS (sanctification) without which no one will see the Lord.-- God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth -- All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment;
--I will be treated as holy, and before all the people I will be honored.
This is the law of the house: its entire area on the top of the mountain all around shall be most holy.--Holiness befits Thy house, O LORD, forevermore
For their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they themselves also may be sanctified in truth--Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us therefore draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace to help in time of need.

My cup overflows

O TASTE and see that the LORD is good: How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him! O fear the LORD, you His saints; For to those who fear Him, there is no want. The young lions do lack and suffer hunger; But they who seek the LORD shall not be in want of any good thing. --His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Thy faithfulness.
The LORD is the portion of my inheritance and my cup; Thou dost support my lot. The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places; Indeed, my heritage is beautiful to me --Whether...the world or life or death or things present or things to come; all things belong to you --Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ
I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am.
--Godliness is a means of great gain, when accompanied by contentment.--My God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

AUGUST 27, MORNING AUGUST 27, EVENING

Thy word is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my path.

BY the word of Thy lips I have kept from the paths of the violent. My steps have held fast to Thy paths. My feet have not slipped.--When you walk about, they will guide you. When you sleep, they will watch over you; and when you awake, they will talk to you. For the commandment is a lamp, and the teaching is light --Your ears will hear a word behind you, This is the way, walk in it, whenever you turn to the right or to the left.
I am the light of the world; he who follows Me shall not walk in the darkness, but shall have the light of life.-- We have the prophetic word made more sure, to which you do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts .--Now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I shall know fully just as I also have been fully known.--They shall not have need of the light of a lamp nor the light of the sun, because the Lord God shall illumine them; and they shall reign forever and ever.

How is it that you are sleeping?

THIS is no place of rest: because of the uncleanness that brings on destruction, a painful destruction.--Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.--If riches increase, do not set your heart upon them.--Set your heart and your soul to seek the LORD your God; arise, therefore
Why are you sleeping? Rise and pray that you may not enter into temptation.--Be on guard, that your hearts may not be weighted down with dissipation and drunkenness and the worries of life, and that day come on you suddenly like a trap
While the bridegroom was delaying, they all got drowsy and began to sleep --Yet in a very little while, He Who is coming will come and will not delay.-- This do, knowing the time, that it is already the hour for you to awaken from sleep; for now salvation is nearer to us than when we believed.--"Therefore, be on the alert-- for you do not know when the master of the house is coming, whether in the evening, at midnight, at cockcrowing, or in the morning, lest he come suddenly and find you asleep.

AUGUST 28, MORNING AUGUST 28, EVENING

The accuser of our brethren has been thrown down, who accuses them before our God day and night.

THEY overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony.--Who will bring a charge against God's elect? God is the one who justifies who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us.
When He had disarmed the rulers and authorities, He made a public display of them--That that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil and might deliver those who through fear of death were subject to slavery all their lives--In all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us --Put on the full armor of God, that you may be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. And take take THE HELMET OF SALVATION and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.--But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

The tree of life.

GOD has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.--He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life --As the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son also gives life to whom He wishes. For just as the Father has life in Himself, even so He gave to the Son also to have life in Himself
To him who overcomes, I will grant to eat of the tree of life, which is in the Paradise of God --In the middle of its street. And on either side of the river was the tree of life, bearing twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit every month; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.
How blessed is the man who finds wisdom. Long life is in her right hand. She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her, And happy are all who hold her fast.--Christ Jesus Who became to us wisdom from God.

AUGUST 29, MORNING AUGUST 29, EVENING

Blessed is he who trusts in the LORD

ABRAHAM did not waver in unbelief, but grew strong in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully assured that what He had promised, He was able also to perform --The conquered because they trusted in the LORD, the God of their fathers.
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change, and though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea --It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in man. It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in princes --The steps of a man are established by the LORD and He delights in his way. When he falls, he shall not be hurled headlong because the LORD is the One who holds his hand.
O taste and see that the LORD is good. How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him! O fear the LORD, you His saints, for to those who fear Him, there is no want.

In peace I will both lie down and sleep for Thou alone O LORD dost make me to dwell in safety.

THOU will not be afraid of the terror by night, or of the arrow that flies by day. He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings you may seek refuge. His faithfulness is a shield and bulwark.-- The way a hen gathers her chicks under her wings -- He will not allow your foot to slip. He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, He who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD is your keeper. The LORD is your shade on your right hand.
Let me dwell in Thy tent forever. Let me take refuge in the shelter of Thy wings.--Even the darkness is not dark to Thee, and the night is as bright as the day. Darkness and light are alike to Thee.
He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?-- You belong to Christ; and Christ belongs to God.--I will trust, and not be afraid.

AUGUST 30, MORNING AUGUST 30, EVENING

The king extended...the golden scepter which was in his hand. So Esther came near and touched the top of the scepter.

IT shall come about that when he cries out to Me, I will hear him, for I am gracious.
We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. By this, love is perfected with us, that we may have confidence in the day of judgment; because as He is, so also are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love. We love, because He first loved us.
Let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water --For through Him we...have our access in one Spirit to the Father --We have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.--Let us therefore draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace to help in time of need.

They said...it is manna (What is it?) for they did not know what it was.

By common confession great is the mystery of godliness: He Who was revealed in the flesh, was vindicated in the Spirit, beheld by angels, proclaimed among the nations, believed on in the world, taken up in glory. -- The bread of God is that which comes down out of heaven, and gives life to the world.
Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died. If anyone eats of this bread, he shall live forever; and the bread also which I shall give for the life of the world is My flesh for My flesh is true food, and My blood is true drink.
The sons of Israel...gathered much and some little. He who had gathered little had no lack. They gathered it morning by morning, every man as much as he should eat
Do not be anxious then, saying, What shall we eat? or What shall we drink?...For all these things the Gentiles eagerly seek for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness and all these things shall be added to you.

AUGUST 31, MORNING AUGUST 31, EVENING

The free gift arose from many transgressions resulting in justification

THOUGH your sins be as scarlet, they will be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they will be like wool.--I, even I, am the one who wipes out your transgressions for My own sake; and I will not remember your sins. Put Me in remembrance; let us argue our case together, State your cause, that you may be proved right.-- I have wiped out your transgressions like a thick cloud, and your sins like a heavy mist. Return to Me, for I have redeemed you.
God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life--But the free gift is not like the transgression. For if by the transgression of the one the many died, much more did the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abound to the many.-- And such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and in the Spirit of our God.

Do business until I come back

THE Son of man is like a man, away on a journey, who upon leaving his house and putting his slaves in charge, assigning to each one his task, also commanded the doorkeeper to stay on the alert.--To one he gave five talents, to another, two, and to another, one, each according to his own ability; and he went on his journey.
We must work the works of Him who sent Me, as long as it is day; night is coming, when no man can work.--Did you not know that I had to be in My Father's house? -- Leaving you an example for you to follow in His steps
Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction.--Each man's work will become evident; for the day will show it, because it is to be revealed with fire; and the fire itself will test the quality of each man's work.--Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord
