THE SECRET OF REVIVAL- Mouth to Mouth Resuscitation!

You are probably thinking what are you talking about? Well, as a doctor, I am very familiar with physical resuscitation and how the breath of one person can aid the resuscitation or revival of a person who is in grave danger of dying. The following short devotional thought takes the physical truth and applies it to our spiritual life, using Scripture as support for the premise that we are continually in need of mouth to mouth resuscitation.

In Hebrews 1:1+ the writer launches out with the truth that God has spoken His Word. Using that as a backdrop, we see Isaiah quoting Jehovah "So shall My Word be which goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it." (Isaiah 55:11) Recall that when God created Adam, Jehovah Elohim "breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and Adam became a living being." (Ge 2:7+) In other words, God's Word was life for Adam and it follows that it is still life for all of Adam's children! To say it another way, God's Word going forth from His mouth is akin to giving His creatures  divine mouth to mouth resuscitation. Another way to say this is that God via His Word and Spirit is our sole Source of spiritual revival. Paul amplifies this truth about the reviving effect of God's Word declaring "All Scripture is God breathed and is profitable...." (2Ti 3:16-17+). Are you in need of spiritual revival? I love Ps 119:25+ (for I am often there in my life) which explains how you (and I) can experience daily spiritual revival - "My soul cleaves to the dust; Revive (a cry out of desperation) me according to Thy Word (God's Word breathed into us, resuscitating us!)." In Hebrews 1:2+ the writer says God has given His final Word in Christ, the Logos (Jn 1:1+), Who is our life (Col 3:4+, Gal 2:20+). Can you see how important it is for you to stay on "life support" daily by taking in His Word of Life (1Jn 1:1+, Mt 4:4+)? Let me ask again, is your soul dry and do you find yourself in need of revival. Then humble yourself, cry out for God's Spirit to revive you according to His Word. That is a prayer He will answer.

Send a revival, O Christ, my Lord,
Let it go over the land and sea;
Send it according to Thy dear Word,
And let it begin in me.
-McKinney
